How to Support Healthcare Workers and the Most Vulnerable in Paris During the Lockdown

Are you looking for ways to help those who need it most during this crisis? In order to support healthcare workers whose daily lives are particularly impacted by the confinement and to provide assistance to the most isolated and destitute members of our communities, here are some initiatives to help for the residents of Eastern Paris.

Bringing meals to a nearby hospital or organization, giving some time to an association lacking volunteers, or donating to a good cause while staying at home: there are many options to provide assistance despite the current restrictions.

Hospitals

The hospitals of Eastern Paris have been treating patients affected by the Covid-19, and their staff is therefore the most affected by the progression of the virus. Child care and housing solutions, grocery shopping: you can help their healthcare workers through the platform En première ligne (“on the frontline”).

Residents who still have masks can bring them to nearby hospitals and pharmacies in order to make sure they benefit healthcare workers. Some restaurants and individuals have also brought meals prepared for the staff of local hospitals.

Associations helping the most vulnerable

The most destitute members of our communities are also the most affected by the crisis. National and local associations are counting on our donations (equipment, food, “tickets restaurants”) and are often looking for volunteers. Indeed, due to the increasing risks for elderly people, many organizations are lacking personnel and calling the youth to step in and provide assistance to ensure their essential tasks.

Food Aid

Now more than ever, associations distributing meals to the poor need our support, including donations to keep operations running, essential food supplies, etc.

Several networks, including Les Restos du coeur, have launched calls for volunteers in order to maintain their programs in the sites that are still open to the public. They have replaced meals shared inside by the distribution of packed meals.

You will find a list including many addresses and further information on the map at the beginning of this article.
