Eastern Paris offers many great options for vegans and vegetarians, and has seen an exponential increase of openings in recent years.

The République and Canal Saint-Martin area is probably the best place to find vegan and vegetarians options in the whole capital – not to mention these neighborhoods also boast plenty of restaurants favoring « bio » ingredients and local sourcing.

Other neighborhoods offering a good range of choices include the trendy Marais, the Bastille area, and Belleville.

Tien Hiang

Off of the bustling Rue du Faubourg du Temple, Tien Hiang is a local gem and one of Paris’ best fast casual vegetarian joints. Serving up a South-East Asian menu, their offering is comprised of traditional plates with a modern vegetarian twist. Their most popular dish – the bo bùn – marries umami flavor with textural variety that leaves a springy taste on the palate. Anything, though, will do, as Tien Hiang’s bold menu boasts delicious flavors that this region is renowned for. Plan to arrive early for both lunch and dinner to skip the crowds!

Land & Monkeys

You’ll find this inconspicuous vegan café on the boulevard between the metro stations Chemin Vert and Saint-Sébastien Froissart. The first thing passersby will notice is not the words “patisserie végétale” on their sign, but the gorgeous array of desserts that line the window display: cakes, madeleines, macarons, millefeuilles, and more!  This spot stole our hearts with their deeply savoury bites and decadent sweet treats.

Soya

With their refined plates and excellent service, this cantine bio is a plant based experience that will not disappoint. We particularly adored the packed with umami vegan sushi and their savory curries and couscous, all of which came in copious portions. Their desserts were equally as satisfying. It’s a great spot to enjoy  a meal — especially on their newly installed terrace!

Le Faitout

Walking past Le Faitout, one wouldn’t expect its vegan origins. Surprisingly discreet, diners enter into a warmly lit classical French bistro featuring a wrap around bar. At this convivial restaurant, patrons are greeted by a friendly staff and local brews. The plant based cheese is texturally delightful, and the generous portions make this restaurant a classic go to spot for both tapas and French vegan comfort food. Plan ahead, and you might even make it to one of their lauded jazz nights!
